My new exhibition features the landscape, air and sea around my studio at Fogland.
My love of painting springs from the delicious colors of nature. The cool, shiny blues of a rainy day, the creamy skies of a summer evening and the deep chocolate and mint of a woodland all sharpen my vision as a painter.
In that spirit, I have created a new group of paintings of the field, sky and beach surroundings of my Fogland studio. This show will be on view all summer at Tiffany Peay Jewelry, 3851 Main Road, in Tiverton Four Corners. For more on Tiffany’s gallery see http://www.tiffanypeay.com
A highlight of this show is a collaboration with my former teacher at Swain School of Design, Severin “Sig” Haines (1946-2023), and is dedicated to his memory. This canvas was begun by Sig before he died in 2023, and given to me by his family to complete. The finished painting channels the influence Sig had on me as I first painted the landscape while still at Swain.
For the full story of this one-of-a-kind collaboration, “Farm Fields Eternal,” read Don Wilkinson’s article in the New Bedford Light. It’s a great story.
